How to fix SuSE 11.2 mp3 problems in audacity and sox

In SuSE 11.2 sox and audacity when installed from yast or zypper it put in the default versions which do not have mp3 compiled in.

In order to fix this go in yast and choose software management.

Next do a search for audacity and the default will show up.

In order to change this click the tab near the bottom right labeled versions.

Now pick the latest version from the packman repository.

If there is no other version/s then you need to configure your repositories and make sure packman is in there, afterwards repeat the above.

Now you should be able to load and save mp3 files.

Repeat this for sox and then sox will be able to handle mp3s.
